The Extron DSC HD-12G A is a high performance HDMI to multi-format SDI scaler with dual mirrored outputs. It converts HDMI video signals to 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, and HD-SDI formats. It accepts and scales HDMI video resolutions from 480i to 4K/60. The user can select between multiple SDI output formats from 720p to 4K/60 resolutions. It features the Extron Vector™ 4K scaling engine for critical-quality 4K applications. Audio from the HDMI or Analogue audio input is available on the SDI and Analogue audio outputs. Genlock input with loop-out, motion-adaptive deinterlacing for signals up to 1080i, Deep Colour processing, seamless upstream transitions, and the ability to display logo images for on-screen messages and corporate branding facilitate integration in demanding professional environments.

Vector 4K Scaling

The DSC HD-12G A incorporates Extron Vector™ 4K scaling technology, developed in‑house, and engineered to deliver best-in-class image upscaling and downscaling. The Vector 4K engine embodies a complete set of image processing algorithms that ensure uncompromising scaling performance with 30‑bit precision processing. This enables sharp, accurate scaling of standard definition and high definition signals up to 4K, as well as downscaling of 4K source signals for lower resolution displays without losing critical image detail.

The DSC HD-12G A offers a range of upstream switching effects. These include a freeze/fade transition that fades out a final frozen frame of the previous input source as the newly detected source fades in, a cut through black transition, and a fade through black transition. Selectable FILL and FOLLOW modes are available to set the desired video aspect ratio. FILL mode provides full screen output, while FOLLOW mode preserves the original signal's aspect ratio.

Audio Flexibility

The DSC HD-12G A offers enhanced audio capabilities, including SDI audio embedding, input gain and attenuation controls, and input audio muting. To suit the needs of the application, the scaler can embed Analogue audio signals or up to eight channels of embedded HDMI audio onto up to four pairs of AES audio channels for the SDI outputs. The DSC HD-12G A provides gain and attenuation adjustments for the Analogue stereo input, as well as the ability to mute the audio input.

Display Custom Images and Logos

The DSC HD-12G A provides the convenience of uploading custom images, which can be displayed as a screen saver after a predefined duration of inactivity at the video input, or whenever the input is disconnected between presentations.

A custom graphic logo, such as a company logo, can be inserted into any presentation. Several key effects are available, and a logo can be positioned anywhere on‑screen.

Multiple Options for Control and Operation

The DSC HD-12G A features front panel controls for quick access to functions. Local and remote configuration and control are available via USB and Ethernet. The on-screen menus provide control over the unit's functions and settings, including quick access to key parameters such as input and output video formats and resolutions. Additionally, LED indicators on the front panel provide visual confirmation of input and output signal format, and signal presence. The DSC HD-12G A is housed in a 1”, half rack width metal enclosure and can be easily integrated into a variety of environments.

Accepts HDMI signals up to 4K/60 - The DSC HD-12G A accepts HDMI input signals at a variety of resolutions. Only unencrypted content can be sent to the output.
Two simultaneous 12G-SDI/ 6G-SDI/ 3G-SDI/ HD-SDI outputs - Simultaneous dual multi-rate SDI outputs are available for driving two displays.
Advanced Extron Vector™ 4K scaling engine - The Vector™ 4K scaling engine is specifically designed for critical-quality 4K imagery, with best-in-class image upscaling and downscaling.
Logo image keying and display - A logo graphic can be positioned and keyed over live video. Logo graphics in BMP, JPG, PNG, or TIFF format may be uploaded to the unit. Full screen images up to 4K resolution can also be displayed to eliminate loss of video between presentations.
Selectable output rates from 720p to 4K/60 - Available output rates include video resolutions from 1280x720 to 4096x2160. Outputs comply with SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE ST-2081, and SMPTE ST-2082 digital video standards.
Genlock input with loop-out - Allows for synchronization to an external reference signal and supports bi-level or tri-level sync for integration into broadcast and production applications.
AFL™ - Accu-RATE Frame Lock - A patented technology exclusive to Extron that locks the output frame rate to the input to eliminate stuttering caused by frame rate conversion.
Audio embedding - Analogue audio signals or up to eight channels of embedded HDMI audio can be embedded onto up to four pairs of AES audio channels for the SDI outputs.
Audio de-embedding - Embedded two channel LPCM HDMI audio can be extracted to the Analogue output, or multi-channel and bitstream formats can be passed to the SDI output.
EDID Emulation provides selectable resolutions and refresh rates to ensure reliable operation - The DSC HD-12G A provides a means for specifying the rate of the incoming signal, ensuring proper communication with the video source.
Displays user-supplied images for screen saver, corporate branding, and logo insertion - Custom, user-loaded images can be displayed as a screen saver after a predefined duration of inactivity at the video input, or whenever the input is disconnected between presentations.
Image freeze control - A live image can be frozen using Ethernet or USB.
Auto Input Memory - When activated, the unit automatically stores size, position, and picture settings based on the incoming signal. When the same signal is detected again, these image settings are automatically recalled from memory.
Motion-adaptive deinterlacing for signals up to 1080i - Advanced deinterlacing for all interlaced signals up to 1080i delivers optimized image quality.
Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection - Advanced film mode processing techniques that help maximize image quality for 1080i sources that originated from film.
Automatic input cable equalisation - Actively conditions incoming HDMI signals to compensate for signal loss when using long cables, low quality cables, or source devices with poor signal output.
On-screen menus - Intuitive on-screen menus allow for easy system setup using the front panel controls. Key parameters such as input and output video formats are conveniently grouped on the initial Quick Setup screen, while additional screens provide full control over the unit's other functions and settings.

User presets - Memory presets are available to store and recall optimized image settings.
Internal video test patterns and pink noise generator for calibration and setup - The scaler offers several video test patterns and audio pink noise to facilitate proper system setup and calibration of display devices.
Audio input gain and attenuation - Gain and attenuation can be adjusted for the Analogue stereo input.
Integrated audio delay - The audio output is automatically delayed to compensate for latency introduced by the video processing.
Output volume control - Provides master volume control for the Analogue and SDI embedded audio outputs.
Selectable audio muting - The SDI-embedded and Analogue audio outputs can be independently muted.
Output Standby Mode - The unit can be set to automatically mute video and sync output to the display device when no active input signal is detected. This allows the projector or flat-panel display to automatically enter into standby mode to save energy and enhance lamp or panel life.
Power Save Mode - The DSC HD-12G A can be placed in a low power standby state to conserve energy when not in use.
Meets Ecofficient Level 1 - Includes an energy-saving, externally controllable standby mode that puts the device in a low power state when not in use.
