Glossary: COLOUR DIFFERENCE

Component video uses Y (luminance) and two color difference signals: R-Y and B-Y representing through a formula, the red and the blue contents of the signals. The color difference signals are derived from a calculated subtraction of the luminance part from each of the signals representing the red and blue parts of the video signal.
