Glossary: ANAMORPHIC

Anamorphic describes the process of storing images at a different magnification in the horizontal and vertical planes. Particularly with DVD's this process is used to "squeeze" a wide aspect ratio (e.g. 16:9) into the native 4:3 ratio that standard DVD actually stores.
